Cayenne Pepper The Master Spice

Cayenne Pepper, whose scientific name is Capsicum Annuum,  is also known as the Guinea spice, bird pepper, cow-horn pepper, and Aleva, but it’s mostly used and popular in its powdered form.  If you like it hot and spicy, Cayenne Pepper kicks your meals up another notch!  It reminds me of my mother in law’s absolutely delicious Jamaican curry chicken with cayenne peppers or even hotter Scotch bonnet peppers, very tasty!

Cayenne Pepper can be used in your favorite dishes. It may also be used for medicinal benefits and often in the form of tea. People drink Cayenne Tea to remove blockages and to prevent heart attacks.  You can add a teaspoon of Cayenne pepper to a cup of water and take it that way.  To make a tea simply mix cayenne, lemon juice, and honey, in a cup of hot water it’s a healthy way to begin your day.  This tea is known to improve heart health and naturally detoxify the body.  It keeps blood pressure normal and gets rid of the bad LDL, cholesterol, and triglycerides.

The most amazing thing I have discovered about Cayenne pepper is its ability to stop heart attacks within seconds because it acts as a vasodilator which widens the blood vessels (veins, arteries) and increases blood flow to the heart.

I  always make sure I have it in stock at home. Cayenne Pepper has numerous other health benefits to name a few:  anti-inflammatory, anti-fungal, anti-bacterial, helps to loosen congestion when you have the cold or flu, good for migraine prevention, anti-allergen, digestive aid and helps in relieving intestinal gas.  Prevents and treats blood clots reducing the risk of stroke or heart attack, relieves joint pain, and much, much more.  It’s a therapeutically and naturally healing method used in detoxifying and cleansing the body because it stimulates circulation and neutralizes  the acidity in your body. Did I mention that cayenne pepper is also good for fighting poor circulation in the legs?  Millions of people sit several hours whether on the computer desk or driving a truck without moving around and remaining active to allow proper blood flow to their legs and toes.

Cayenne Peppers Scoville Heat Units

Cayenne Pepper is extremely high in a substance called Capsaicin.  Capsaicin has therapeutic properties for relieving muscle pain, joint pain, or nerve pain. When consumed it causes a burning sensation when it comes in contact with your mouth, taste buds and other areas on your body.  It causes sweating and releases endorphins and muscle contractions. The greater the amount of capsaicin in a pepper the greater the heat.

The Scoville Scale measures the amount of heat or capsaicin in a pepper. The Cayenne Pepper has 30,000-50,000 Scoville heat units, when you compare it to a milder jalapeno pepper which has 2,500-8,000 S.H. units. But Jolokia is One of the hottest peppers in the world with 855,000 – 1,000,000 Scoville units…Yikes!!! You either have to be extremely brave or insane to try that one:))
