“The Kingdom Of Heaven is near”

“The Kingdom Of Heaven Is At Hand”

What Kind of man was John the Baptist? Did he seek to please men? was he a follower of men? No, not hardly, in fact he was the opposite. He followed God. If you follow God, you listen for his voice. You wait for instructions. From a very early age John the Baptist knew who he was and the reason he was called by God. Because of the message his parents received from the Lord, before  he was born. They raised him to know his Identity in the lord.

The bible calls him the “voice of the one crying in the wilderness, Prepare the way of the Lord, Make his paths straight”.  He was called to be a prophet. He was called by God to direct people to Christ Jesus(to lead people the “way”). In the bible Jesus is called many things, however he is also called “the Way, the Truth and the Life”.  John the Baptist was called to Identify the Messiah and introduce him to to the world. John was very bold and did not mince words. He said it the way he saw it. His famous words  are “Repent for the Kingdom of Heaven is at hand”  and they will be  remembered through the ages because Jesus used the same statements once His ministry began. The statement is a call to turn away from sin, and turn to the King of Kings the Lord Jesus Christ.  The time is short and it really is that important a message for us all to meditated on.

The Bible describes John clothed with camels hair and a belt around his waist. He dwelt in the wilderness and ate wild honey and locust. (Not everyday food you or I but sounds good over a hot fire). John certainly was different than everyone around him. He lived differently, he dressed and ate and walked and talked differently. The Bible says when you know the Lord you are a new creation. You will change. You will have different desires. You will desire to please the Lord. Will non believers like you for it? “No”  In fact I had a friend, 20 years ago, that would no longer talk to me because I always spoke of the Lord when I received Him as Savior. 1 John chapter 2:15 says “Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world the love of the Father (God the Father) is not in him”. That is a strong statement. I believe God wants us to center (the main focus) of our lives on Him.

“The Kingdom Of Heaven Is At Hand”

When John the Baptist preached in the wilderness people came from the cities of Jerusalem, all Judea and the regions of Jordan to hear his message.  John shared a powerful message and the spirit of God moved among the people. They repented and were baptized. John the Baptist rebuked the Pharisees and Saducees who had shown up in the wilderness, probable to see what all the excitement was about, they were probably wondering why the Jews congregated to hear Jesus preach instead of worshiping in the synagog. John looked them and stated,”Brood of vipers, who warned you to flee from the wrath to come”? He advised them to repent and bear fruit of repentance (to change). I believe when we are walking closely with the Lord, we see peoples motives and the Lord reveals things to us we would not normally see. God give us a boldness we would normally not have and we desire to be more and more like him.

Sometime Christians lose sight of who they are and the saying is true “we fall short, we all seek our own way”. You and I are to bear fruits of the Spirit of God. The Fruit of the spirit is love, kindness, gentleness, meekness, etc.  When you think about it and reflect back, are we really bearing fruit in the way we live? In Matthew chapter 3:10 John says that every tree that does not bear fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire.

“The Kingdom Of Heaven Is At Hand”

We today, live in a different world, a different time but something similar is about to happen, “The Kingdom of Heaven is at hand” The Lord is about to come, Will you trust him? will you receive him? he paid for all your sins and mine on the Cross. The Bible say “whoever calls upon the name of the lord (Jesus) shall be saved”  and in John 3:16  it says “For (The Father in Heaven) God  so love the world that he gave his only begotten Son (Jesus Christ), that whoever (everyone) believes in him should not perish (spiritual death in hell) but have everlasting life (in Heaven)”. Receive Jesus today as Savior and Lord of your life. Thank you for reading. “The Kingdom Of Heaven Is At Hand”
